I have also used this approach, but please make sure the glue is completely
dry before assembling the instrument, or .....

The old Erick Brand Repair Manual says that the clearance between the male
and female tenons should be no more than 5/1000 of an inch on the diameter.
If you have 10/1000 inch no amount of cork will tale away the wobbles, so
the clearance needs to be made correct to solve the problem.
