A member of a group with which I have played recently commented that
when he began to consider going pro he found himself at auditions
with three hundred other clarinetists. When his teacher lost his job
with a local symphony orchestra because of budget cuts, his teacher
became a barber. Not wanting to follow in his teacher's footsteps,
he went to law school and now works in the District Attorney's Office.

This is a story which is repeated generation after
generation. Weekend clarinetists we are.
