My 33 year old A-clarinet barrel (Selmer 10, Mazzeo model) has a
hairline crack that has been sealed with superglue for 20 years. It
seems to be fine and I notice no change. This was done by a repairman I
trust. The glue is on the Outside of the barrel, however. (And, I live
in an area with a moderate climate.)

If it had been a trivial thing to replace this barrel, I would, of
course, have done it. The Selmer 10 measurements had changed around the
time that it cracked, and the replacement barrel I ordered was incompatible.

Maybe this will be of help to some of the younger people on this list
trying to sort out the varying opinions on this issue.
