I'm surprised that not one person seems to have stood up for the Stones. I
can't comment on the Superbowl performance - I did read that the American
networks deliberately reduced the volume on the vocals to avoid offending
delicate sensibilities:

"The broadcaster used a five-second delay to take out two of the lyrics to
the band's hits, Rough Justice and Start Me Up." Guardian Newspaper

so perhaps not quite completely moribund.

A yera or two ago, I remember hearing an American rhythm and blues group and
the Rolling Stones "perform" Litte Red Rooster on the same day. What struck
me was the utter incompetence of the Stones in the genre which they seemed
to have taken up. Their performance seemed to be a pathetic imitation.
