I looked in both Webster's 9th Collegiate and Collins' 2nd Edition English
Dictionaries and both define "moron" in the derogatory sense, with no
mention of chestnuts; I haven't gone as far as the OED yet, but I am certain
either Webster or Collins' would've included a mention of a "nut" in the
etymology if there were in fact one to be had from the OED's definitive
definition.
