Guys, don't get me wrong I admire the "Doctor's Products" and I esteem Omar
Henderson for his contributions. This has nothing to do with any
recommendations of his products.

But I have to tell you, this thread - on the dangers of cork grease - seems
to be border on obsession.

Case in point. I bought my A clarinet in 1976. It has been played hard and
often.

I have used all sorts of cork grease, and I have to assume that most of it
was petroleum based. Most of the time, I just used Chapstick!

I still have the original tenon corks. They did fall off, they did not rot,
and the glue has not let go.

After thirty years of use, yes, the tenon corks finally need to be replaced.
When I overhaul my A this summer, I will certainly will replace them.
Surely, thirty years use is more than adequate.
