Maybe this would work with a very loose cork, but if you play in an
orchestra (at any level) and have to change clarinets quickly and reliably
you will probably need to use cork grease on the mouthpiece tenon frequently.

Maybe those German string ligatures hold the reed more securely than the
slippery metal ones I use.

I did have the cork on my mouthpiece replaced last year after about 7 years
of use. Another cork was replaced at the same time. It may have cost $20.
