Yes, says me!
I am a repairer who sees all too many cork joints which have come adrift for
no other reason than that there has been too much grease used, admittedly
usually of a more 'sloppy' consistency more towards petroleum jelly. You can
use firmer greases but they tend to get thick and sticky on the joint which
means you need to clean them before regreasing. Personally I use very
little grease once the cork has become conditioned - just a little (and I
mean a little) occasionally (and I mean occasionally.)
