It's just as easy to debate about cork grease (and as tiring) as it is
to debate about oiling, but _nothing_ lasts forever.
Surely the bottom line is that you need a lubricant of some sort, and a
lubricant with less volatile solvent is probably gentler on contact
cement (which is rubber-based and soluble in many solvents).
I happen to like the way that lanolin (anhydrous) handles, which is a
pure fat paste without solvent. A Google search will locate other
solvent-free 'greases' as well, but common anhydrous lanolin from a
retail pharmacy will cost you less than those $1.49 tubes of cork grease
(or other specialty products) over the long run.
