I purchased a Yamaha CSV Bb at the clarinet convention in New Orleans in
2001. The particular instrument was one that Hiroshi Nakajima, their
resident clarinet wizard, tinkered over for three days while fielding
questions behind the booth. It has four different kinds of pads - cork,
bladder, Valentino and white leather - depending on which tone hole is
covered. (The white leather is used for the big holes on the bottom joint).

The white leather pads are now several years old, but seal as if new. The
do what they're supposed to. They "pop" a little more than felt/bladder
pads - but I like that. If they ever wear out, I'll look to use white
leather again.

IMHO, YMMV and all that.
