Oy gevalt!

It's shabbos! And we're talking about swooning the chics? Anyway, it ain't
the instrument that gets the girl its how the musician plays it.

Sort of like it ain't the size of the boat, but the motion of the ocean if
you get my gist.

Moxy in playing also has a lot to do with whether or not a musician gets a
goirl. And clarinetists can be among the biggest hams out there in wild and
crazy playing stlyes.
But so too can Saxophonists.

Its all a matter of personality mixed with playing ability, you've either
got it or you ain't. For some playing can bring out a side of them they
never knew was there, for others its just an extension of their everyday
self. That's the beauty of music, not only do we discovery beauty in the
music we study and play, but we discover something about ourselves in the
process.

What if Mozart's dad hadn't been a musician? What might've the world missed
out on then? Just think of what wonderful happen-stances of fate mixed
with genetics have occured throughout history to produce people like Mozart,
George Gershwin and this boy wonder Julian Bliss. What a fabulous
intermingling of events must've conspired to bring about just the right set
of circumstances to allow those three, and countless others to have been
born and to have graced our world and ears.

So the deal is, don't envy the guy who gets the girls becasue he plays so
well, some guys are just chic magnets. Be happy with what you are and with
the great gift of music you have, and use that gift to its fullest, becasue
where you might not score with a girl, you might brighten a lonely person,
or a depressed person, or an old person's day, and that means more in the
big picture than gratifying your own base instinct.

Just some thoughts from a philosopher/clarinetist who digs ethics and
responsibilty to the Other as paramount in this world.
