I am so pleased to have heard all this good news, including
excluding (interesting grammaer here) m. 111 in the fifth
movement, improvisations, eingange, etc. And even as I receieved
this delicious note, I was writing my comments for the Gran
Partitta seminar at the New England Conservatory next month.

Finally this, I will be playing a performance of the Gran
Partitta next summer in San Francisco, though I asked to play
only the 2nd basset horn part. I am no longer up to playing the
first part and it is a wise person who understands their newly
given limitations.

Following that performance, my basset horn will be put up for
sale on ebay. So start saving your money folks. It will not be
cheap. But it comes with two case, three Clark Fobes mouthpieces
(one, a student model that I use all the time), and an old bottle
of cork grease!!

Greeting list,

It's now Saturday morning (I'm at the computer, putting'
off going to the gym) and I'm still high from having the
incredible luck of performing the Gran Partitta last night,
with Dan Leeson's parts, of course! That piece is absolutely
magical and the crowd loved it.

The performers included myself on Bb, with Stanley Winestein
(former principal of the New Orleans Symphony) on 2nd Bb, Greg
Oaks
(Professor in Mississippi) on basset with our NMSO bass
clarinetist
Bonnie Mauldin on 2nd basset. Greg did a spectacular job on the
principal basset part. We had wonderful new Buffet bassets,
thanks to
the UNM clarinet professor, Keith Lemmons. (Who would have
played
with us, but was busy at a clarinet workshop in Puerto Rico with
Kathy Jones, former NU buddy and principal clarinet of PRSO).

There, how's that for name dropping clarinetists? :)

BTW Dan, we ommitted the famous measure, I added the short
"lead ins," and we made our little improvisatory additions to the
repeats of the minuets. Which I might add, I would have never
considered if it weren't for you Mr. Leeson! Thank you.

Hope the celebration continues. I've enjoyed reading everyone's
concert news and reviews.

Lori Lovato,
NMSO, SFS, NMWQ.org

Wish it were Mozart's 250th birthday every year....
