Hi all,
We'll be undertaking Mahler 1 this semester, and I was just writing to
ask a couple questions...you guessed it..."Schalltrichter" stuff.
I understand the indication and that they all mean the same thing, but I
was wondering...how do you know when to put the thing back down? Most
of the indications come before multi-measure rests...I'm assuming this
cancels it?
Additionally, if I recall correctly, in a DVD of the Chicago symphony,
the winds lift the bells at the first entrance of the 'grace note' theme
after rehearsal number 18 (a tempo). This is not marked in the 3rd
part. Different edition? Conductor's discretion? Thanks guys.
