I agree, absolutely: I think we are strongly influenced by what we have
been playing on. What makes this worse is that to give a mouthpiece a
fair trial, one has to fit reeds to it. Using the reeds one's been
playing naturally will favor a mouthpiece similar to the one they worked
well with.
