Dear Colleagues,

no doubt some of you will know how to tell the vintage of Selmer, Paris
mouthpieces:
From when until when did they have the oval stamp on the table? Is it
possible that the Logo "Henri/Selmer/Paris in laurels on the back was
originally engraved or etched rather that stamped? Does that narrow down the
age? I have quite a few old Selmer mouthpieces, some very fine, others quite
poor and they seem to be made of quite varying qualities of ebonite; would
anybody know about that? A senior colleague of mine treasures three old
(40s-50s?) Selmer Bb-clarinet mouthpieces, one with the oval, two without
and one of the latter is absolutely fantastic.
Please let me know if you have made observations or experiences on this
matter.

Best wishes and a happy new year (to the Christians on the list),
danyel
