- the 'Superscope' model name goes way back to the 1960's when the Marantz
cassette recorders had a range of features which made them useful to
reporters and film makers. I guess it does sound a little like 1950's sci-fi
but once that model became known to its target audience for good quality at
a reasonable price I imagine it didn't make sense to dispense with the name.
