Hi Rob,

Tenor saxophones are really the larvae of adult horns and consequently more
popular amongst elderly players. But both are no longer in current usage
since it has been revealed that their operation always has the side effect
of rather undesirable noise emissions. Doctors and aestheticians agree that
the slick black tube called clarionet (of which there is, fortunately, no
tenor variety) is much healthier for both you and your posterior. The only
saxophone known to be fairly save is the Anglo-sax, but it's very difficult
to master. In fact, nobody ever did.
The question why anybody would bother to learn Saxon has not yet been
answered.

Best wishes,
danyel

(I would like to suggest that on every saxophone-case it should be legally
required to print in large, unfriendly letters: WARNING! The sound of this
horn can cause severe damage to your mind and disturbs your neighbours! If
you need help quitting call: saxists anonymous.)
