I just received the recent (1999) EMI CD of Sabine Meyer doing the Mozart
with Claudio Abbado and the Berliner Philharmoniker. Her use of
ornamentation is very tasteful, and she adds her own (I think) cadenza in
the 2nd movement, plus a couple of other short cadenzas in the 1st and 3rd
movements. As with her other recordings, Meyer has the great ability to
bend arpeggios and scales, within the measure. Her incredible technique and
articulation doesn't hurt, either! All in all, a new approach to K. 622.
She uses a Wurlitzer Basset clarinet, BTW. What a wonderful sound!

On the CD are two other selection: (1) a gorgeous Debussy "Rhapsodie", done
effectively on a German System clarinet (it can be done, Michele!), and (2)
the Takaemitsu "Fantasma/Cantos". The EMI catalogue number is 7243 5 56832 2
9.
