Just want to add my 2 cents on this. I had a Toshiba laptop for 5 years,
which I loved. My daughter has it now, and it is still doing well for her.
The new screens are greatly improved, though I was always happy with the
earlier one.

I have seen software for laptop recording use at Music 123 online, which you
may want to check out as well as your usual software supply haunts. They
also had a lot of general recording equipment, like microphones and so on.
You should get a student to help you with some of the necessary information.
I found my 17 year old was much more informed than I am about recording
equipment and using the computer for such things!
