Audry,

I have been there! Fell off my bicycle in about 1994 and broke my right
wrist. Due to poor diagnosis I ultimately had to have an operation to
re-break it and was in an external fixator for what seemed like months -
may have been months - I tend to repress the memory. Hurt like h**l for a
while. Obviously no playing during that period, but when the fixator came
off, there was no significant problem resuming playing. So keep a stiff
upper lip.

But typing was a real problem! Back then, speech recognition programs were
crude and expensive, but they have improved a lot since then. A few years
ago I obtained one of the Dragon programs "Naturally Speaking" and it
really does work, although I have not made much use of it, not having
broken my wrist again. If you need to do much typing, you might look into it.

But there is nothing I know of that would finger your clarinet for you!

George
