"auditor: ...An auditor is an accountant who officially examines the
accounts of organisations" (Collins Cobuild English dictionary).

"auditor:a person who officially examinesthe accounts of a company, etc; a
personwho performs an audit" (Oxford dvanced learner's dictionary).

But the best English-Dutch dictionary, Van Dake's dwoordenboek, gives as the
first meaning of auditor: "listener"! And this both in the sense of someone
listening to a radio program, a concertoe etc, and someone attending a
lecture etc. And only after that it gives the above given meaning.
