Words in and of themselves are never offensive. An attitude, displayed
by a particular expression may be offensive. So do not look to limit a
particular set of words, but look beyond the words to ideas and
intentions. Work to enlighten peoples hearts and minds rather than give
them lists of "do this, don't do that", "say this and don't say that",
"eat these and not those". Sometimes there is no better word in the
language for a particular situation than a so called 'dirty word'. Yes
we do need to be thoughtful and judicious in our choice of words, to be
explicit in passing our message and tailor the thought to a particular
audience. But it is never what enters our eyes or ears or mouth that
defiles us, but that which comes out of us in our attitudes and
actions. Awake Peter, rise and eat.
