I have some interesting information about conversion for political reasons:
Since 1992 , 2000 (!!) Marranos from Portugal emigrated to Israel - they converted more then 500 years ego!

Benjamin Zeev Herzle lived in Austria at the same time that Mahler did, and he like Mahler was suffering from the wild antisemitism in Austria. He also became a Catholic.
Herzle - is the founder of the Jewish state, Israel.

In the Jewish religion there are two levels : One between a person and the society and the other is between a person and God.
One can put a new mask to live with the people in peace , but no one can ever know if that person has changed the belive in God.
