A German academic colleague was telling me recently that his female
colleages at the university were calling themselves "Frau Professor" (as
opposed to "Professorin", I suppose). I said I had been taught that
"Frau Professor" referred to a professor's wife. He said, "Ha! Well,
maybe in Austria."
