My theory is that they want to make only one version of each model of bass
clarinet that they can sell all over the world. One made to 440 would be a
problem in Europe.

My Buffet alto clarinet came with two bocals. A longer one marked "A L"
and a shorter one marked "A C." I have presumed that if you bought this
instrument in Europe you would get the "A C" bocal and another shorter
still. Does anyone know for sure?
