I play bass clarinet - mine's a Selmer, but the principles are the same --

To ask some obvious dumb questions, how is the intonation in the
throat region and the left hand? And how long have you played it, and
have you ever been able to play it in tune on the lower notes? When I
tried out a few bass clarinets a year or so ago, I found that most of
them had a certain amount of difficulty with the size of the 12ths on
the very long notes, i.e. the low F/C, E/B, etc. But it was limited to
those, and they could mostl be humored - if you're finding severe
problems even getting to 441 on anything below a C/G (3 fingers on the
left hand), it seems to me you could indeed have a leak, but in that
circumstance you would also have badly stuffy sounding notes as well.

Are the notes in both registers sharp?

Another thing that would seem to be worth experimenting with is the
mouthpiece, but I don't know what a good one would be for the Buffet.
