Another option is to use either classical mouthpiece and put a 'jazz'
reed on it. I like the various Vandoren jazz reeds through the RICO
Jazz Select are rather nice also. This combination will put an edge on
the tone without it being overly LOUD. I think it is the volume and not
necessarily the tone quality that orchestral players complain about.
