Well....

I don't buy this at all. Sorry. There may be a few "secrets" out there left
to discover...but in general a lot more is known about instrument design and
manufacture today than in these days you speak of. I am sure there were very
fine craftsman as I've seen some fine work from the time period you speak
of...but....nothing close to what we have available today.

I don't know about "blown out" clarinets...I don't worry about it. If a
clarinet plays well...the age doesn't matter to me. Play the instrument and
ask yourself..."does it play well"...what else matters?
