I have a Pruefer with the original barrel. At the time this instrument was
made, the barrel was substantially longer than barrels on most of today's
clarinets. The body was correspondingly shorter from the top pad/tonehole
to the top of the upper joint.

Is the instrument reasonably in tune with itself? If not, the non-original
barrels may be giving you an incorrect impression of the key of the
instrument.

As far as I have been able to determine from reading, if clarinets in B
rather than Bb were ever made, it would have been long before Pruefer was
ever in business.
