Yes, it's a scam. The $4000 money order will prove to be phony; but
the transfers will be arranged such that you won't learn this until
after your own $3000 has been collected and "Abby" has vanished from the
face of the earth.

Another version of this is where a 'prisoner' in a 3rd world country
needs to cash a check or money order or whatever in order to 'pay off' a
foreign bureaucrat (or judge or kidnapper or whatever); but again, you
are asked to send your own cash on a Saturday afternoon and to cash the
prisoner's check on the following Monday morning when the banks open.
Surprise! The check turns out to be phony.
