Next Monday evening, October 10, the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra is
presenting a special benefit concert to kick off our 2005-2006 season. Our guest
soloist will be none other than Daniel Barenboim.
Mr. Barenboim will be performing the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 22 in Eb
Major, K 482.
This concerto is of interest to clarinetists, as Mozart replaced the normal
two oboes with a pair of clarinets. There is particularly beautiful clarinet
writing in the Andante movement. I feel very privileged to play this piece
and to accompany such a great artist.
The program also includes the Dvorak Symphony 8 in G Major, Op 88.
For those local to the Chicago area, the concert is a Cahn Auditorium,
Northwestern University, 600 Emerson, Evanston IL. The concert begins at 8:00 pm.
Tickets are available through the box office at the North Shore Center for
the Performing Arts. Call (847) 673-6300
