Warren,

Without getting further drawn into a political discussion, let me just
echo Ellis Johnson's response: Political affairs that have a bearing on
musicians are certainly on-topic for this list, and we really should allow
posters a little leeway in political "spin", color, hyperbole, etc.

At any rate, the main thrust of my original post (which really was meant
to be helpful) is just this: Those of us who care about preserving (and
strengthening) the NEA, the NEH, public broadcasting, and so forth should
be concerned about "Operation Offset", but there's no need to panic. This
is just a wish-list of the far right framed as a response to Katrina.
