If you look up "Fake Book Index" on Google and find the entry from Seventh
String, it is a pretty useful resource; you put in the name of the song you
want and it will tell you which fake books (legal only) have that tune in
them. There probably is a resource that tells you the same thing for the
less legal books too. Also, I agree: learn to transpose!!!! I've seen so
many doublers carting their alto sax, flute , and clarinet , to a jam
session, and in the other hand an equally imposing pile of fake books in C,
Eb, and Bb....wow!...and while you're at it , it wouldn't hurt to memorize
some tunes as well...
