I am looking for opinions on the Selmer Signatures. They seems to
have more presence and volume than the Buffet R13. The one's I've
been trying have some tuning problems, I hear the Recitals are better
for tuning but I don't find the sound as interesting.

Anyone using them?
Has anyone tried to bring them more in tune?
Anyone know of a maker who makes custom barrels for them?

Martin, I have 2 Selmer Signatures, a Buffet R-13 and a Buffet Prestige (all
Bb's and all in new condition I'm talking about - none "blown out"). I like
the Signature quite a lot - as much as my Buffet R-13 and almost as much as
my Prestige. I was playing with Ricardo Morales and tried his Signature - he
has a custom register tube that Morrie Backun created for it and the
Clarinet did feel better with it. Backun of course makes custom barrels and
bells for it too. Volume wise Ricardo got a bigger sound on his Recital than
on the Signature (I heard him play the 2 in a row - not a huge difference
but I would have probably been able to distinguish with my back turned
between the 2).
One of the Metropolitan Opera players are playing the Signature and 2 others
are playing on the Recital. I didn't play Ricardo's Recital, but I did play
his Signature, and the replacement register tube really cleaned up the long
B fingering. My Signatures are both very, very well intune. I use the 62.5
barrel on one of them. I don't find the Signature to have a bigger sound
than my Buffets - about the same.

Really, really nice Clarinet!!
