There is a long OT discussion going on on this list. I would advice all
committees, authority organisations, and so on, to make contact with the
Dutch "Waterloopkundig Laboratorium" of the Technical University in Delft,
The Netherlands. It was the laboratary, where the huge delta works in the
Netherlands were prepared. Maybe all "levee authorities" might learn
something from them.

And, referring to a previous posting I made on this list: there are two
important issues at stake:

first: how to help the victims of Katrina, and

second: how to prevent a similar disaster in the future.

And this has nothing to do with what I think of this president Bush, who
imho is a very weak leader, not even in a long distance nearing the stature
of his father, and with many (imho) regretable opinions. It is time for a
change in the USA, I think. The USA was on the right way, when it elected
Jimmy Carter for president, but he was too progressive for his country,
(even though I considered him rather center-right). But that is a discussion
that should be on another forum, not on this list.
