Subj: [kl] Brahms op. 120, no. 2 edition
Date: Tue, 30 Aug 2005 00:21:12 -0400

I've recently acquired an early edition of this
Sonata. It is from the
same plates as the 1st ed. The title page is exactly
the same as the
first edition except that the lines below to which
I've added an asterisk
appear on this edition, but not on the first edition.
Does anyone know
when this was published or where I can get publication
information for
this printing? Clearly it is the British
issue--probably shortly after
the German 1st ed.

An advertisement for "Michael Press
Konzert-Berarbeitungen fur Violine
und Klavier" is printed on the back page with 5 pieces
by Brahms, 3 by
Dvorak, and 3 by Robert Fuchs. The bottom line on this
page reads: No.
33. N. Simrock G.m.b.H. Berlin-Leipzig.

Any help in date this precisely would be appreciated.
