My clarinet professor was a student of Mont Arey and himelf taught at Eastman in the late 30's---He used those as phrasing excercises when I studied with him in 1965. I have used those with all of my students since as phrasing excercises. Marvelous ---aren't they.

Subject: [kl] Kroepsch as phrasing studies
Years ago I thought of the first 2 books of the Kroepsch studies as just
technique builders. But now I see them as phrasing studies, and excellent
ones, of great beauty.
Does anyone know if Kroepsch wrote them himself, or compiled them from other
sources?
