Tony, you should continue to write just as you do.
You already know that when you are so blunt, people
will get uncomfortable. I certainly get
uncomfortable. You also know that most of what you
write here is intelligent, subtle, challenging, and
worth your effort. You do know that, right?
I have written stupid things here, and I have written
wise things. I will take my chances being called
stupid if and when I write more stupid things. If I
write something really worthwhile, and if you call it
stupid, I will do my best to work out what I meant to
say and to work out what you are getting at. And I'll
defend my thought if I still consider it worth
defending. I would try not to be angry or to have my
feelings hurt too badly, because I have seen that you
always have had a good reason for what you've said,
however bluntly. I think this sort of interchange is
appropriate on this list.
No, he did not articulate any truth about your
relationship to the list, and he was wrong to
encourage you to leave.
