To play devil's advocate, that may be the case with some fiction, but for
technical books, it is not necessarily the case.

The nature of technical books is that you look at sections of a book as you
need it. In the Google Print case, you can search for a section that may be
in a book and then not have to buy anything. Makes for pretty cheap and
easy research. Before, people would either purchase books or they would go
to libraries that have purchased books. Putting these books at folks
fingertips for free only makes copying them easier.
