I'll shamefully admit that I play the alto clarinet - and I distinctly remember
a Schoenberg piece to which the alto clarinet had a "solo" part, sure it
doubled the euphonium, but who really cares about the euphonium? :)

Of course, I'm still waiting for someone to compose a piece for Alto Clarinet
and Euphonium with some kind of title that says, "hey, somebodies gotta plays
these"
