While I'm thinking of it, what about applauding after national anthems?
Another case of poor training and "looking the other way" by teachers
(assuming that they know it's not appropriate themselves, of course).
I wonder what the Brits thought when the audience applauded after God Save
the Queen. ("Damned boorish colonials," maybe?)
