Of course there are ideas *I* want to express. I actually have the
idea for an entire piece outlined and some 2 minutes of music written.
However, my reasons for inquiring about this don't have to do with
the piece itself. I have to eventually come up with a justification
for the piece, along with my analysis, etc. I can't think of many
duet pieces for clarinets with orchestra or piano, so I wanted to see
if I was just mistaken or if that were true. And if it *were* true,
if there's some sort of preferred listing of literature many
clarinetists lean toward so I had a good solid reference for it. I
can easily dig up books with listings of clarinet literature, but that
doesn't tell me what clarinetists think is the most
comprehensive/best/etc. out there.

Listening and studying what others have written is always a good thing,
but... Is there a musical idea inside of yourself that you want to
express?
