Interesting.

I think I am going to going to use Clarinet 1-4, since my hope would be
that the parts would be split as evenly as possible. Essentially, the 1st
and 2nd clarinets are functioning as Violin 1 and 2 and the 3rd and 4th are
functioning as Clarinet 1/Viola and 2/Cello (there are plenty of exceptions
to this, of course). I didn't consider that the fourth part is more likely
to be split amongst the "normal" 3rd players, this has not been my
experience playing in wind bands, but most of my wind band playing was done
before I thought of such things.

As a composer, Bb Clarinet 1-4 almost seems to me more logical in general
for wind band compositions. But I'm one of those terrible people who is
prejudiced against the alto clarinet. Forgive me!
