Subj: [kl] Re: New to the list...question on duet literature

First of all, thank you to those who have responded. It's given me a
somewhat larger picture of the literature, though it still seems
rather limited. To give a little more information on why I'm looking
for the information: I'm working on a doctorate in composition/theory
and I've been writing a theory textbook for the dissertation. I've
lost interest in the project (but not the theory book itself as we're
currently talking to publishers about it) and have been contemplating
going back to my original idea: writing a piece for two clarinets and
orchestra. I know of a decent amount of unaccompanied duet literature
but very little that comes with orchestra. So I wanted a feel for the
literature.

The next step is to actually start looking at books of clarinet
literature. Are there any standardly accepted listings of the
literature, books that clarinet players predominantly use for such
things? It seems like I should know this, since I played clarinet for
so many years, but I'm really not wholly involved as a performer on it
anymore, so I can't recall anything (outside the NYSSMA manual, which
is by far an incomplete listing of pieces).
