He should be thankful he doesn't live in Bayreuth. Wagner's
"Gotterdammerung" has a total of 5.5 hours of music. It is divided into
three acts and a prologue. Each act is played with no pauses whatsoever...
no breaks for applause as there often are during Italian
operas.
