Richard
I have been using Legere reeds for several years. Playing as an amateur
about the same as you. They are very long lasting. What happens is that they
never really stop working (over five years). They soften rapidly (maybe 0.25
of a grade in the first couple of hours of playing and then gradually
soften. But it is easy to get 4 - 6 months playing out of one. I have never
really worn one out, I just promote them to the basset horn as they soften!
And I even suspect that they are not rally softening but my chops are
hardening ....
