One point last winter I put a humidifier in my "music" room - it is
also my general study and my throat was raspy - and almost overnight
my reeds turned to mush, effectively all becoming "No.1", or softer,
reeds. (Granted they weren't particularly high quality in the first
place - I'm a learner - but they were at least playable). Things got
better after I let the room dry out.

Maybe try one of the Legere synthetics - I didn't have one then during
my experiment but I'll bet it would have survived the dampness.

Subject: [kl] Humid conditions - affects on the clarinet & reeds

Hi

Im off to the Philippines very soon and I will be
bringing my clarinet with me. As this is the first
time I am travelling with my clarinet - how would the
high humidity conditions in the Philippines affect the
clarinet and reeds. I have a 10yr Buffet R13s and uses
Marca and Gonzales FOF reeds.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks
Dominic
