I am profoundly shocked and saddened to learn about David Breeden's death. I
was in communication with him last January. At that time, he told me that he
was undergoing treatment for a severe blood disease that left him with
little energy, but gave the impression that it was treatable, and not life
threatening. I worked with him for one year in the late 70's. He was a
wonderful player and such a kind-hearted, generous person. A tremendous
loss.

My deep sympathy to all his recent students and colleagues.
