By delightful coincidence, just a couple of minutes ago I was searching
through my CD collection and came across a disc of Beethoven wind music
which I hadn't listened to in ages, performed by the period instrument
ensemble Mozzafiato (led by Charles Neidich). The clarinets are listed
as being Grenser copies made by Rudolf Tutz.

So, if that's the Tutz you're thinking of, I presume he makes very good
period reproductions, since I don't think Neidich would settle for
anything less. :-)
