Hi Diane,
I once played and still have a gorgeous The Martin tenor from 1948
(#166xxx), which I picked in N.Y. in 1995 from amongst dozens of excellent
tenors and after having tried zillions elsewhere (many a King Super 20,
Buescher 400, Ladyface, all kinds of Selmers etc.). Its sound is incredibly
lush and mellow, yet amazingly strong. It plays very smoothly, looks and
feels quite luxurious. I quit playing tenor, otherwise I'd probably still be
blowing this horn. It's the finest I ever encountered.
Best,
danyel
